Work has commenced on the first museum of entertainment, called as Showtown, to narrate the story of Blackpool and its role in the entertainment scene in the UK.
The £13m museum was slated to open next year but was impacted by delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is now expected to open by April 2023.
This museum is considered as the “jewel in the crown” for the town’s regeneration plans.
It will be situated in the Sands Building, which will also include Blackpool’s five-star hotel.
According to the Blackpool Council, the museum will showcase comedians, dancers, acrobats, performers who put the town on map.
The museum will feature Stan Laurel’s bowler hat, costumes belonging to Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise, and one of Tommy Cooper’s props.
Construction firm Conlon has begun the groundwork.
Recently, the Lancashire construction firm restored the Spanish Hall at the town’s Winter Gardens.
Conlon commercial director Darren Lee was quoted by BBC as saying: “Blackpool is known all over the world for its history of entertainment and Showtown is shaping up to be the latest world-famous attraction located in the seaside town.”
