OhmShiv Construction has secured a contract for the next section of the Webb Bridge Road improvement project in the US state of Georgia.

The contract, worth $13.7m, has been awarded by the City of Alpharetta.

This development is expected to enhance the 1.6-mile stretch of Webb Bridge Road, from the Big Creek Greenway east to the intersection with Maid Marion Close.

The project’s inception dates back to 2016, involving public input sessions and design charettes that allowed Alpharetta’s residents to contribute to the road and streetscape designs.

Construction and design work for the Webb Bridge Road improvement project is divided into five phases.

Phases two and four are currently under construction, with phase one already completed.

The project is expected to take approximately 22 months to complete, with landscaping to follow the road construction phase.

Ongoing construction for two other segments of the project include a bridge replacement over Big Creek and a new roundabout at Webb Bridge Way.

The project is designed to transform Webb Bridge Road into a safer residential collector corridor, complete with pedestrian, bicycle, and landscape amenities.

It will also introduce narrower travel lanes of 10.5ft.

This will allow for a lower speed limit and the addition of multiuse paths, bike lanes, landscaped medians, pedestrian lighting, and other features.

Upon completion, the Webb Bridge Road improvement project will extend from Morris Road to Webb Bridge Way.

Funding for the improvement project comes from the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

This was approved by voters in 2016 and renewed in a 2022 ballot initiative.
