Construction and civil engineering company Peab has been contracted to reconstruct the streets and upgrade the water pipes in Kirseberg, Malmö.

The contract will be delivered for Sweden-based environment organisation VA Syd and the City of Malmö.

The estimated value of this turnkey contract is valued at Skr110m ($9.93m).

The scope of this project will consist of the construction of new wastewater and rainwater pipelines.

In addition, the project will see the expansion of the capacity of the grid to ensure that future growth regions can be connected to it.

This section of road will be restored up to a certain point, and new bus stops will be installed to enable the city to operate new electric express buses.

Peab region manager Göran Wiking said: “We’re really pleased about this project which entails extensive work in an area that runs all the way through Kirseberg.

“It will be a modernisation both above ground and underground, especially since the new emission-free express buses will run here.”

Construction work is set to commence this month and is projected to last until June 2025.

The company will register this project in its order bookings for the third quarter of this year.

In July, Mannersons Fastighets awarded Peab a contract to deliver an extended-stay hotel in Inre hamnen in Norrköping, Sweden, named the ‘Extended Stay Hotel Gamla Varvet.
