UK-based regeneration specialist Vistry Partnerships has secured a contract from Populo Living, a wholly-owned housing company of Newham Council, to deliver £62m Plaistow Hub regeneration project in the UK.

The regeneration project, located in Plaistow, east London, is a mixed-use residential-led scheme which will include the construction of two separate residential buildings.

The project will also feature a new library, a neighbourhood centre, a supermarket, gym and café as wells as a new piazza.

Vistry said that the new scheme will improve the streetscape by connecting the locally listed Plaistow Underground Station to the new development and surrounding area.

The revenue generated by the development, which will be built across London Road and Valetta Grove sites, will support the development of 112 London Affordable Rent homes in the local area.

Plaistow Hub will be built across two separate sites – London Road and Valetta Grove.

Situated next to the Underground station, the London Road site will comprise a 23-storey building with 100 new homes for private rents and a three-storey commercial building.

The Valetta Grove site, located off Plaistow Road and opposite the Plaistow Station, will be redeveloped to create 82 new homes for private rents over 15 floors.

Construction work on the regeneration project is planned to begin immediately with completion scheduled in August 2023.

Populo Living CEO Deborah Heenan said: “We are delighted to be starting work on this exciting new project which will benefit the whole of Plaistow.

“The Plaistow Hub project will provide fantastic new community facilities and much needed housing. It will also help deliver 112 affordable homes in the local area thanks to the Mayor’s support for Populo Living.

“Populo is working alongside the Mayor and Newham Council to deliver over 2,300 affordable homes in the borough and 1,000 new council-owned homes by March 2022.”
