France-based concessions and contracting firm VINCI, together with mutual insurer Groupama Group, announced plans to build The Link scheme, comprising two towers connected over 30 floors by green walkways.

Located in the Michelet district of Paris La Défense, the project involves the 50-storey “Arche” wing that will rise 228m above the forecourt; and the 35-storey “Seine” wing which will be 165m high.

French oil firm Total has signed an off-plan lease deal to house its headquarters at The Link project, which is designed by the architecture agency PCA-STREAM on behalf of the site owner Groupama. VINCI will build the project through its subsidiary VINCI Construction France.

Groupama CEO Thierry Martel said: “The Link is specifically designed to meet Total’s needs. With VINCI, we wanted to build a new-generation tower block comprising two buildings and their connecting walkways. Maintaining this project through the current unprecedented times is a strong indication of our confidence in the future.”

Total will lease The Link for a 12-year renewable period. The project is planned to be completed in five years.

Total people & social responsibility executive vice-president and member of executive committee Namita Shah said: “With The Link, we will bring together our teams, currently spread across Paris La Défense, in a modern working environment that is both bright and pleasant. It will cater to the comfort of individuals while meeting the highest possible environmental quality standards.”

Hauts-de-Seine Departmental Council president and Paris La Défense board of directors chairman Georges Siffredi said: “This tower and its location in the Michelet district will enable us to rework traffic patterns and connections with the city of Puteaux.”
The Arche wing and the Seine wing will share a common three-storey base between the urban boulevard and forecourt while the walkways will include 3,000m2 platforms.

It will feature 130,000m2 of office, restaurant, co-working and relaxation areas as well as photovoltaic façade. Construction on the project foundations is scheduled to commence in 2021.
