Veidekke has received a contract from Sintef Energi to construct Sintef Horizon, an eco-certified commercial building on the Gløshaugen university campus in Trondheim, Norway.
This design and build contract is valued at $27.01m (NOK 280m), excluding VAT.
The new building will be 11,000ft2 in total size, of which 6,500m2 will be a new build, and the rest being a rehabilitation of the current office building.
The project will feature office spaces, areas for interaction and research, and a canteen for employees and other users of the campus.
The project will focus on the resue of the materials and intends to become a role model for other densification.
It will seek certification for the BREEAM-NOR Excellent environmental standard.

Preparatory work of the site is already underway, with construction to commence in 2023.
The project is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2024.
The contract is being registered by Veidekke for Q3 2022.
