Norway-based real estate company Nordr has chosen construction and civil engineer Veidekke for the Storetveithagen housing project at Fantoft in Bergen, Norway.

The initial stage consists of groundwork and the construction of 36 block and terraced homes. This design and build contract is valued at approximately Nkr146m, exclusive of VAT.

Upon project completion, Storetveithagen will feature 100 units spread across four low apartment blocks and four terraced residences.

Veidekke Bygg Bergen district manager Thor Småbrekke said: “We appreciate the confidence shown in us and being awarded the contract.

“We have developed this residential project over several years in partnership with Nordr and are very pleased to finally be able [to] start work soon.

“The project will involve significant own production, and we’re looking forward to starting construction after the holidays.”

The apartment building will be developed to the ‘Passive House Standard’, incorporating crushed concrete from the demolished office building on the site, as well as blasted rock from the groundworks that will be used in the nearby Slettebakken environmental decontamination project.

Nordr urban director Kristoffer Evjen said: “We’re looking forward [to] extending the good partnership with Veidekke from Fantoftparken.

“Storetveithagen has been well-received in the market, and we’re looking forward to establishing a new neighbourhood at Storetveit.”

Construction will begin in the next few months, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2025.

The contract is registered in Veidekke’s order backlog for this year’s second quarter.
