Veidekke has been appointed as the design-and-build contractor for the Grønvoll quarter at Helsfyr in Oslo, Norway.

Commissioned by Nordr, the contract, valued at Nkr1.284bn ($120.52m), excluding VAT, is scheduled to commence after the mid-year holidays.

Nordr CEO Henning Wettre Hanevold said: “This is one of the largest housing projects to be launched this year, and we are very happy to have Veidekke with us.”

The Grønvoll quarter will feature five buildings with a total of 412 environmentally certified apartments and underground parking facilities.

Construction will take place over the next three to four years between Grenseveien and Grensesvingen near Fyrstikktorget at Helsfyr.

The courtyard between the buildings will feature a shared garden, varied planting, playgrounds, and social zones with barbecue areas.

Additionally, shared roof terraces on four of the buildings will offer walkways between them.

Meanwhile, 80% of the project’s first stage comprising 109 apartments has already been sold, and the second stage has seen a rapid sale of 63 out of 71 apartments.

Veidekke Oslo director Anders W Haugen said: “We are grateful for the confidence shown in us and for yet another large residential contract for Nordr.

“We particularly appreciate building fine homes where sustainability is safeguarded as it is here, and we can see from the good sales that Nordr and the project have matched the market needs well. We are very much looking forward to starting construction work.”

The contract will be added to Veidekke’s order book as construction progresses through its various stages.

Last month, Veidekke secured a design-and-build contract from Odden 1 for the initial stage of the Odden residential project in Hinna Park, Stavanger, Norway.
