By GlobalDataOnce the expansion is completed, the company claims that there will be nearly 41,500m² of building stock.
As part of the renovation plan, the company intends to make changes to the floorplan, in addition to installing new surfaces and technical systems.
Both the façade and roof of the existing school building will also be upgraded with increased insulation.
The new technical systems and supplementary insulation will reduce the school’s energy requirements.
According to Veidekke, the renovation work will be carried out in phases even as the school will remain open.
The project will be executed as a fossil-free construction site and with an objective for waste sorting rate of 95%.
The company added that the solid wood load-bearing system in the newly developed building will help in offsetting greenhouse gas emissions.
The construction of the project is expected to commence at the end of this month and is scheduled to be completed by January 2023.
Veidekke Bygg Vestfold og Telemark district manager Lars Hjertås said: “We are grateful for the trust shown in us and are looking forward to getting started on the building works.
“By working together with Vestfold and Telemark county municipality, we will ensure the existing buildings satisfy the needs of pupils and staff for a modern school.
“We will also be maintaining a full focus on interaction, good dialogue and great solutions so that the school can remain operational throughout the majority of the construction period.”
Veidekke claims that, in the last 12 years, this is the fifth tendering project it has won to develop an upper secondary school in Vestfold and Telemark.
