Newcastle City Council in the UK has given its approval to developer Packaged Living’s plans for a 289-unit residential scheme on Quayside.

This new development will be located on a 1.5-acre site alongside the river and will include amenity space, commercial space, and on-site car parking for residents.

Called as Quayside 12, the forefront of the design has environmental consideration and will target net zero carbon construction targets and choose low embodied carbon in specified building targets.

This brownfield site is the last remaining plot of the 1990’s Farrell Masterplan and will be completely remediated prior to build, having been vacant for more than three decades.

Among the amenities to be provided will include a resident’s lounge, co-working spaces, private dining rooms and recreational facilities.

The scheme will create over 700 construction jobs and boost spending in the local economy by an estimated £4m annually.
