Westminster Primary School and Westminster Education Support Centre in Western Australia (WA) have completed a A$15m ($9.77m) redevelopment.

WA Education minister Dr Tony Buti opened the newly redeveloped schools, marking the completion of the construction project aimed at enhancing educational facilities.

Dr Tony Buti said: “The rebuild and redevelopment of Westminster Primary School and Westminster Education Support Centre will provide students with an ideal learning environment and outstanding educational opportunities. We are so happy to see this officially open.”

This project involved the demolition of the original schools’ areas, refurbishment of existing classrooms, and the construction of new facilities.

The redesign of the campus was planned to cater to the needs of students, teachers, and the local community.

The new layout features buildings that open onto grassed areas and a nature playground, with interconnected paths that provide a space for play and learning.

Westminster Primary School has seen the construction of new teaching blocks, a staff room, a dental centre, an administration building, and additional parking.

Westminster Education Support Centre now has specialist education support classrooms, designed with ample space to facilitate both therapy and education.

The project was designed by Site Architecture Studio while Crothers Construction completed the construction.

This redevelopment is part of the Western Australian Government’s investment in education.

Since 2017, the government has invested more than A$4.4bn to construct and upgrade schools in the state.

Earlier this month, the WA Government announced the completion of the new METRONET Ellenbrook Station in Perth, the capital of the state.
