Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited, has signed an agreement with Dr Abhay Firodia Group of Companies to build a 13.2MW group captive solar plant in Maharashtra, India.

The power delivery agreement was signed with Dr Abhay Firodia Group of Companies – Force Motors Limited and Jaya Hind Industries Private Limited.

In a company statement, TPREL said: “Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) entered into a power delivery agreement (PDA) with Dr Abhay Firodia Group of Companies – Force Motors Limited and Jaya Hind Industries Private Limited – for supplying green power for 25 years under Group Captive scheme.”

According to TPREL, this partnership represents a significant move in progressing sustainable energy solutions for industrial usage.

As per the agreement, Force Motors Limited, which is a completely vertically integrated car company, will use 6.2MW AC power and consume 13.64 million units a year. Jaya Hind Industries Private Limited will use 7MW AC in power, annually consuming 15.40 million units.

TPREL will be responsible for constructing, managing, and maintaining the group’s captive solar plant. The two group companies will stand to benefit from a reliable, as well as clean power supply from the plant.

To be built at Achegaon, this plant will have a capacity of 13.2MW AC, producing 29.04 million units of power annually.

The facility is expected to cut down carbon emissions by approximately 21,200 tonnes annually.

The project will be built within 12 months.

TPREL CEO and MD Deepesh Nanda said: “It will set new benchmarks in the automotive sector towards adoption of clean energy for an environmentally conscious future.”

Earlier this year, Tata Power broke ground on a submersible power substation project in South Mumbai, India.
