Switlik Survival Products has broken ground on expansion of its manufacturing facility in Trenton, New Jersey, US.

A new 20,000ft2 building is being added to the company’s 1325 East State St. property.

This expansion marks the growth experienced by the company.

Since 1920, Switlik has been operating from Trenton, and manufactures sewn and heat-sealed inflatable safety and survival products.

Its product mix features anti-exposure suits, airline life vests, constant wear vests, man overboard and water rescue platforms, life rafts, and military based products for the US Coast Guard, US Army, US Navy and the US Air Force.

Hamilton Mayor Jeff Martin said: “I am so excited for Switlik to now expand on their continuing operations here from Hamilton into Trenton, family business that started over 100 years ago continuing on and building towards the next generation.

The expansion project is expected to give job opportunities for local people.

The project is being constructed by Scozzari Builders, while ACT Engineers is responsible for undertaking design and site preparation works.

Clarke Caton Hintz Architecture has been appointed for creating building design, and Fox Rothschild is responsible for land use and municipal legal efforts.
