Sweco has secured a contract to extend Stockholm’s metro between Fridhemsplan and Älvsjö.
This contract is valued at approximately $2.98m (SEK32m).

Sweco Sweden president Ann-Louise Lökholm Klasson said: “The continued confidence in Sweco to develop one of Stockholm’s most important infrastructure projects in modern times is highly gratifying. The project is creating efficient travel as well as good, safe environments.
“We have both the capacity and the ability to harness smart digital tools and innovative methods for solving the complex issues and new conditions required by the assignment.”
The new project comprises preparing system documents for the new line’s stations at the high-traffic junctions at Fridhemsplan and Liljeholmen.

By GlobalDataIt also involves working on the extension’s whole environment, right from passenger areas to subterranean installations and structures.
Sweco is also still undertaking development on ongoing projects, which it secured earlier this year.
These projects include work at all the new line’s station entrances.
The firm has been working on seven stations on the Blue Line’s Nacka and Söderort extensions, since 2015.
Sweco’s contract begins immediately. It is expected to continue for two more years.
The new stations are slated to open in 2034.
