Real estate enterprise Suffolk has broken ground on a school building for Westmark School in Encino neighbourhood of San Fernando Valley, California, US.
The Westmark School focuses on offering a specialised approach for students with language-based learning issues, including dyslexia.
The elementary school building, designed by NBBJ, is expected to be ready in August next year.
A 25,000ft₂, ground-up build of an educational facility, Westmark Lower School will feature ten classrooms, a play area, a theatre space and a central courtyard.
The project will feature raw elements and sustainable resources in its design, including formed concrete, exposed lumber panels and tropical hardwood lumber decking.

Further, the new structure will use a cross-laminated timber (CLT) system to give the building strength, dimensional stability and rigidity.
