According to the company, roxit will bring together Strabag’s activities in the production, processing and recycling of building materials.

With operations at more than 300 locations in 12 countries, the organisation is also engaged in the international project market.

Approximately 3,000 employees work within this business segment, which manages 116 concrete batching plants, more than 70 quarries, 17 sand and gravel pits, and 12 bitumen emulsion and polymer-modified bitumen facilities.

The group produces around three million cubic metres of concrete and 24 million tonnes of stone and gravel annually.

The brand prioritises resource conservation, CO₂ reduction and the increased use of renewable raw materials.

It focuses on applying solutions already proven in regular operations. These include alternative powertrain technologies, new recycling methods and pilot projects for low-carbon concrete.

In its quarry operations, Strabag is adopting a range of measures such as implementing conveyor systems for energy generation, switching to solar-generated electricity, and replacing diesel-powered machinery with electric alternatives and more climate-friendly fuels.

Green hydrogen is also being tested as an energy source for heavy-duty vehicles and wheel loaders within quarry operations.

Strabag is also pursuing new materials at the Living Lab for Sustainable Construction (Reallabor für Nachhaltiges Bauen) in Vienna, where materials such as hemp, sheep’s wool, clay and recycled products are being examined under real-world conditions for potential wider application.

Strabag CEO Stefan Kratochwill said: “Going forward, various specialised units will operate together under the clearly defined Roxit umbrella brand, delivering services such as joint sealing and milling in road construction, concrete production, the manufacture of mineral-based construction and insulation materials, as well as recycling solutions.

“Our ambition is to be a reliable partner across key stages of the material cycle, from raw material extraction, processing and refinement through to recovery and the use of recycled materials.”
