Stack Infrastructure, a data centre developer, has partnered with Peterson Companies, a real estate company, for the development of a new data centre campus in Manassas, Virginia.

The 125-acre, multi-phase development is expected to offer more than 250MW in critical load for flexible built-to-suit facilities serving large data centre users in the Northern Virginia market.

The initial phase will be built on 25 acres of land, offering 700,000ft² of space and serving 72MW of critical capacity and is expected to begin by the end of this year.

Stack Infrastructure CEO Brian Cox said: “Northern Virginia continues to be the largest, most important data centre market in the world, and we are excited to partner with Peterson on this opportunity.

“Prince William County offers robust power infrastructure and low latency connectivity within one of the densest concentrations of fibre networks in the world. This, in combination with the low total costs of ownership available in this market, enables us to offer an especially attractive value proposition to clients.”

Peterson Companies development president Taylor Chess said: “We are excited to partner with STACK to bring this 125-acre, four million-plus square foot data centre campus online.

In June 2019, Stack Infrastructure announced plans to improve its Chicago data centre campus. The development will be next to the company’s existing facility that offers 13MW of critical power and 221,000ft² of space.

The new data centre is expected to offer at least 20MW in additional capacity, with a possibility of additional growth, increasing Stack’s total capacity in Chicago to 33MW.

In January, Stack Infrastructure partnered with real estate firm Hillwood and investor IPI Partners to co-develop a data centre campus at AllianceTexas in Fort Worth, Texas. AllianceTexas is a mixed-use project developed by Hillwood and is located in north Fort Worth.
