Swedish construction and development company Skanska has secured a SEK550m ($54.8m) contract from Stena Fastigheter to construct multi-family buildings in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Under the contract, Skanska will construct 361 both condominiums and rental apartments in Ekebäckshöjd, Gothenburg.

The buildings, which will cover 38,000m² of gross area, will be between eight and 11 floors and will comprise a preschool and retail premises.

Skanska said that the central theme of the project is relationship management, which means pursuing issues that are good for the neighbourhood, the area and the people who live or work in that place.

According to the construction firm, the buildings will be designed to be certified in accordance with Environmental Building guidelines under silver level.

Construction on the project is planned to begin in the second quarter of this year and will be completed in spring 2023.

Recently, the construction company secured a SEK920m contract from a real estate company Castellum to build new Nordic headquarters for energy firm E.ON in Sweden.

The project covers 36,000m² of gross area and the building will have between eight and nine floors.

The development, which will be located in Nyhamnen district, will comprise a restaurant, gym and roof terrace, with the opportunity to work outdoors during the summer.

The planned new building in Nyhamnen comprises approximately 27,000m²leasable area, of which E.ON will rent about 24,000m².

Skanska has also invested SEK590m to build Hyllie Terrass, a climate-neutral office building in Malmö, Sweden.

Hyllie Terrass comprises 12 storeys and will have a total leasable area of approximately 14,000m² and will be part of the Sweden Green Building Council’s pilot study on ZeroCO2 certification of buildings.
