Skanska has received a Skr80m ($43.4m) contract from the Norwegian municipality of Øvre Eiker for the construction of a new school.

The building will be built in Hokksund, a town located in Buskerud county, outside Oslo.

Details regarding how many students can be accommodated in the school and what age range it will cater for have not been disclosed.

Covering an 11,000m² area, the campus will feature a new school, a multi-purpose sports hall and an indoor swimming pool.

The school, with ambitious climate and environmental objectives, will function as an energy-positive building.

Cross-laminated timber will be used for the construction of buildings, with an aim of a 30% reduction in emissions compared to reference projects.
