
Sherwin-Williams Company has broken ground on a 36,000ft2 extension of its current 200,000ft2 manufacturing facility and a new 800,000ft2 distribution and fleet transportation centre in Statesville, North Carolina, US.
Besides adding four new rail spurs at the present manufacturing site, another 200,000ft2 will be left available for future expansion at the distribution site.
Sherwin-Williams chairman and chief executive officer John G. Morikis: “This marks an important milestone for Sherwin-Williams in continuing to serve our customers and investing in our employees.
“This project will support our growth for years to come. We are proud to be a part of the community here and grateful for the partnership we have with the local and state officials.”
State, county and local public officials, Sherwin-Williams employees attended the ground-breaking ceremony along with project contractors and partners.
The project is anticipated to complete by the end of 2024.

By GlobalDataUpgrades to the facility will add millions of gallons of annual production capacity and large pallet storage capacity to aid the company in meeting the growing demand for its architectural paint and coatings products.
Sherwin-Williams intends to invest at least $300m in the project.
The project will create 180 full-time jobs over the next three years, double the present workforce.
Furthermore, the company will receive around $30m in state, county and local government incentives for the project.
In February, the company had signed an agreement with the State of North Carolina, Iredell County and the City of Statesville to expand its architectural paint and coatings manufacturing capacity and set up a larger distribution facility in the city.
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said: “This project in Statesville adds to North Carolina’s reputation as a top workforce location for modern manufacturing. With more than 2,400 full-time Sherwin-Williams employees in our state and more coming, our state is committed to the education and training that will create success for years to come.”
