Machinery manufacturing company Raimondi Middle East has erected eight flat-top tower cranes for the Aljada megaproject, developed by Arada in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The machines were deployed with the help of the Raimondi Middle East’s operational team, which is assisting in building the ‘Sokoon’ housing buildings.

The megaproject construction site includes five apartment buildings with 482 units alongside commercial space in Aljada’s cultural sector, the Naseej District.

Adding four Raimondi MRT111s, one MRT159, and three MRT294s, takes the total number of Raimondi machines involved in the project to 22.

The cranes will remain on the site for another 14 to 16 months.

Raimondi Middle East commercial director Wael Hasan said: “We opted for cranes with a maximum lifting capacity ranging between 8tn [tonnes] to 14tn, and a maximum lifting speed of 136m/minute.

“The larger number of cranes needing installation, paired with the congested nature of the site, required careful evaluation of the site planning and crane positions to avoid overlap.

“The Raimondi Middle East operations team will continue supporting the construction of Sokoon buildings by performing monthly maintenance checks, as well as the full cranes climbing procedures as required based on jobsite progression.”

The four MRT111s-8tn are now operating with jib lengths of 36 metres (m) and heights of 60m and 48m, respectively.

These cranes are equipped with a 30kW hoist and 450m drum capacity and are said to lift at a maximum speed of 100m/minute and boast adaptability in terms of tower height with high performance regarding load and hoist speeds.

The MRT159- 8tn was built with a 44m jib length and a 45kW hoist power, enabling the flat-top to lift at a maximum speed of 136m/minute and a final height of 66m.

All three Raimondi MRT294s on the site have the same maximum lifting speed as the Raimondi MRT159, a maximum lifting capacity of 14tn, and final heights of 54m and 60m. These cranes, with jib lengths of 36m and 60m, are built to last in any climate conditions.
