Swedish construction and civil engineering firm Peab has secured a contract worth $11.8m (SEK108m) from Trianon to construct rental apartments in Malmö, Sweden.
The scope of work under the contract involves construction of three apartment buildings with different heights in Hyllie in southern Malmö.
The apartment buildings facing the boulevard and square will be three to five floors comprising 30 apartments along with commercial space.
The buildings which will be constructed in the courtyard will be three stories comprising 43 apartments.
Peab region manager Olle Olsson said: “We’re proud to contribute with our expertise and to build more homes in this expanding city borough in Malmö.
“The apartments have a great location alongside the boulevard right by the square and park. We’ve worked closely with Trianon and developed the project together which is a good example of our locally produced community building.”
Construction work on the project is scheduled to commenced in next year spring and planned to be ready for occupation in the spring of 2024.

By GlobalDataTrianon Business Development head Anna Heide said: “We’re happy to finally be able to start construction of our 73 apartments in the area Hyllieäng, which is an important part of the puzzle in building Malmö into a whole and connecting Kroksbäck/Holma with the new Hyllie. The apartments will be built with investment funds to keep rents affordable.”
In a separate development, Peab has been awarded a $24.5m (SEK224m) contract by ÖrebroBostäder to construct 130 new rental apartments in Örebro, Sweden.
The contract involves construction of five new apartment buildings along with a parking garage and bomb shelter with 32 shelters.
Construction on the project will begin this month, with completion expected in the 2024 spring.
