Nordic community builder Peab has secured a contract worth $23.5m (SEK203m) from Jönköping Municipality to construct a new senior assisted living in Sweden.
The new project, named Wilhelmsrogården Senior Assisted Living, will be built on Strandängen in Jönköping.
The 13,000m2 development will include 90 apartments and shared community space, staff space, laundry room, a kitchen, storage space, nurse’s office, medicine room and garden area.
Jönköping Municipality Social Services senior section 3, department head Jenny Wiberg Larsson said: “Jönköping is a growing municipality with an increasingly aging population which in turn creates a significant need for more modern senior housing.
“We look forward to the construction of Wilhelmsrogården and being able to offer our senior citizens, as well as our employees, new assisted living with a good environment to live in, aimed at the future.
“Social Services, together with the other stakeholders, are excited about the construction of Wilhelmsrogården where the residential and outdoor environments will be designed to achieve good quality of life.”
Construction work on the project is scheduled to commence in September with completion expected in October 2023.
Last month, the construction and civil engineering firm was awarded a $74.34m (NOK646m) contract to construct hangar for surveillance airplanes in Evenes, Norway.
Work on the project involves construction of a 21,500m2 of hangar, warehouse, workshop and administration building at Evenes air station for military flight surveillance airplanes.
In the same month, Peab also secured a $18.18m (SEK157m) contract from Intea Fastigheter to rebuild and renovate the former prison in Härnösand, Sweden.
