Peab has been chosen to construct a new school with a schoolyard and 22 rental apartments in central Eskilstuna of Sweden.

Eskilstuna Municipality has awarded the contract for the school, while Eskilstuna kommunfastigheter gave the contract for rental apartments.

The total contract is valued at SEK231m ($26.95m).

Peab will construct the new school with a schoolyard and 22 apartments on the block Nötknäpparen 22.

The building will feature other premises and a new/rebuilt garage section.

Totaling around 11,680 m2, this is a three-dimensional property formation.

The school will take up 9,800m2 of space, while the apartments would feature 1,880m2 of space.

The project will be constructed in a historical, industrial area that is undergoing a transformation and now provides culture and entertainment and features restaurants, sports facilities and businesses.

Peab region manager Nils Staffansson said: “We’re already building housing in the area and appreciate the opportunity to continue to develop the city together with Eskilstuna Municipality and Eskilstuna kommunfastigheter. We’re pleased to be part of Eskiltuna’s further development by contributing with a new school and rental apartments.”

Construction of this turnkey contract project is planned to commence in the fall of 2021 and is slated to complete in 2024.

The project will be order registered in Q3 2021.
