Peab has been awarded a contract to build a new swimming pool facility in Årjäng, Sweden.

The firm will build the swimming pool facility for Årjäng Municipality.

This contract is worth $17.3m (SEK155m).

The 1,500 m2 swimming pool facility will have a 25m pool with six swimming lanes, a trampoline and a multi-pool with a feature for height adjustable bottom.

It will also have a relax area with a jacuzzi and sauna, a children’s section with a children’s pool besides as a gym, a group exercise room and a wellness area linked to the swimming pool facility.

Peab region manager Nils Staffansson said: “We’re already building homes and a preschool in the Årjäng area and are happy for the opportunity to continue developing the community together with the municipality. Peab has a group of experts specialized in swimming pool facility construction, which is obviously a strength in this project.”

Construction of this project is expected to commence in the fall of 2021 and be completed in 2024.
This turnkey contract will be registered by the firm in its Q4 2021.

In October, Peab secured a $41.7m (SEK365m) contract from Swedish Transport Administration to renovate Tingstad Tunnel in Gothenburg.

Tingstad Tunnel is said to be one of the important routes in the region that connects Hisingen and Gothenburg mainland area.

Built in 1968, the tunnel is used by nearly 125,000 motorists every day.

Under this contract, Peab will be renovating the entire stretch of the 455m tunnel by replacing its wall and roof. It will also repave the entire road.

Additionally, it will replace the lights, fans within the tunnel and install a new fire alarm system as well as a new system to handle the rainwater that accumulates in the tunnel.

Construction works are expected to begin in spring next year and to be completed by the end of 2023/2024.
