The Uddevalla Municipality in Sweden has selected construction and civil engineering company Peab to completely renovate the Rimnersvallen Stadium.
Under the $20.82m (Skr211m) contract Peab will renovate the stadium to meet standards for parasport, Swedish Championships in track and field, and Superettan in soccer.
Upon completion of the refurbishment, the stadium will be completely accessibility adapted for the public and the athletes.
The construction firm carried out project planning and preparatory groundwork during the spring.
The scope of work includes the construction of new stands for approximately 4,000 spectators, as well as four lighting towers.
Peab region manager Stellan Haraldson said: “As community builders, we’re really pleased to be part of renovating Rimnersvallen Stadium.

By GlobalData“This is a project that will mean a great deal to a lot of people, as well as Uddevalla as a city. Many of us will go to sports events at Rimnersvallen Stadium and we’re very proud that Peab is contributing to Uddevalla’s upgraded stadium.”
The project is planned to be completed next year.
Uddevalla Municipality community building department head Kenneth Funeskog said: “Rimnersvallen Stadium is an important sports and health facility for Uddevalla and its residents.
“It’s also a key part of Uddevalla and its history, which is why we’re both pleased and proud to be modernising and developing ‘Vallen’ for the future, together with Peab.”
Earlier this year, Peab was selected by Swedish housing company Riksbyggen to build 46 tenant-owner apartments in Inre Hamnen, in Norrköping.
The building will be climate neutral and will feature a bicycle workshop and bicycle pool.
