Peab to construct water and wastewater pipelines in Nittedal

The project is the result of a need to mitigate pollution in the Nitelva River.

Peab has been awarded a contract by Nittedal Municipality to construct new water and wastewater pipelines in Norway.

The contract, which is in partnering form, is valued at Nkr296m ($26.97m).

This project is the result of a need to mitigate pollution in the Nitelva River with the decommissioning of two local treatment plants.

It will see a power line built to the central treatment plant and the installation of a new feeder line that will serve the Nittedal Municipality.

Construction will span more than 10km for the main water and wastewater pipeline.

To preserve the local environment and biodiversity, and to minimise damage to agricultural land, Peab will employ no-dig methods extensively throughout the project.

Efforts will be made to limit the disruption to residents and road users during the construction period, stated Peab.

This project commenced with project planning.

Peab said it has worked closely with Nittedal Municipality and other stakeholders during the planning phase to ensure the most effective solutions are implemented.

Construction is set to begin shortly and is scheduled for completion in December 2025.

The project will be recorded in Peab’s order books in the second quarter of this year.

Earlier this month, Peab secured a turnkey contract to construct a new drinking water reservoir in Sweden’s Lund municipality.
