Nordic community builder Peab has been awarded a contract to construct a new cold storage facility in Hyllinge, a locality north-east of Helsingborg in Sweden.

The unit will be delivered for client Evolv Frysen 1. The contract carries a value of Skr111m.

The cold storage facility will be constructed on Hyllinge’s south-west side.

The structure will consist of a cold storage area with a connected delivery dock, staff and utility rooms, as well as passageways into the current building.

It will also include modification works on approximately 250m² of the 6,400m² total construction area.

The unit aims to reach Miljöbyggnad Silver verification, a Swedish system for the environmental certification of buildings that are owned and developed by the Sweden Green Building Council.

Peab region manager Olle Olsson said: “We’re pleased and proud to have been entrusted with building the new cold storage unit in Hyllinge, thereby contributing to local business. This is a good example of our locally produced community building.”

The project is being delivered as a turnkey contract.

Construction work is expected to commence next month and is set to be completed in February 2025.

Peab will register this project in its order bookings for the fourth quarter of this year.

Last week, the company secured a traditional contract for the reconstruction of the docks in Vaxholm, also in Sweden.
