Real estate development firm Parallel has broken ground on a new 143-unit student housing development project in Columbus, Ohio in the US.
Located at 76 E. Ninth Avenue within walking distance from the Ohio State University (OSU), the new five-story community is planned to open in summer 2023.
The project will provide living options close to campus, Short North, and downtown for the OSU upperclassmen, OSU graduate students, and young professionals.
The development will feature fully furnished studio through five-bedroom apartments and will include amenities such as terrace-level courtyard with pool and hot tub, fitness facility, package lockage area and a robust first floor bistro and lounge.
Parallel said that the development’s upscale design elements will comprise Bluetooth showerheads, quartz countertops, in-unit washers and dryers, and fireplaces and smart home automation.
Designed by Rhode Partners, the development involves rezoning from a single-family zoning to five-story multi-family zoning, requiring multiple approvals.

The new 18-storey student housing development will be situated in Northgate Campus neighbourhood adjacent to the Texas A&M campus in College Station. It will include 298 units featuring 802 beds.
The company has collaborated with an institutional student housing investor for the College Station project, which is being funded by BMO Harris Bank as administrative agent and Webster Bank as documentation agent.
