UK-based builder Morrison Construction’s Building Central unit has concluded the major refurbishment of Paisley Town Hall in Renfrewshire, Scotland.

The refurbishment had been carried out as part of Renfrewshire Council’s extensive investment in Paisley’s historic buildings, aiming to modernise but protect the town’s history.

The scope of this project involved an entire redesign of the main hall to enhance seating capacity, along with the installation of technology such as lighting and sound upgrades, retractable seats, and a lowered stage.

Furthermore, the building’s formerly discarded spaces have been transformed into a bar, a new terrace overlooking the town’s abbey, a dance studio, and a screening room, enabling the town hall to be used for a broader range of purposes.

Paisley Town Hall will reopen in time to host the Royal National Mòd cultural festival.

Renfrewshire Council’s cultural spokesperson and OneRen chair Lisa-Marie Hughes said: “We are thrilled to now be on the final countdown to the reopening of the town hall and can’t wait to see how people will react once they get the chance to see inside it for themselves.

“The building had become outdated and needed [to be] upgraded to stay in use – but the work done here has seamlessly integrated everything a 21st-century venue needs while preserving the classic 19th-century look that makes the town hall so special.”
