The New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYS OPRHP) is set to embark on a project to revitalise the Coxsackie State Boat Launch and Riverside Park on the Hudson River in Greene County, New York, which is set to commence on 7 September.
Among the enhancements planned is a new open-air pavilion to host weekly Farmers Markets and other special events, along with improved bike and pedestrian connections between the waterfront and downtown.

Also, part of the NYS OPRHP project is new sidewalks to enhance pedestrian site circulation, basketball court overhaul, as well as new trees, landscaping and seating.
Furthermore, the project will include new welcome, wayfinding and orientation signage, including water-facing site identification signage for boaters, interpretive signage, as well as other site elements to highlight local history.
Construction work on the $3.2m project is expected to conclude by spring 2022.
This is the first state boat launch to be renewed under the Hudson Eagles Recreation Area, an initiative to aid public access on the Hudson River between Albany and Kingston.
The project will enhance the current boat launch with new floating gangways and docks, a new kayak launch, as well as added space for transient boater tie-ups.
A new boat wash station, a rain garden, an electric vehicle charging station and LED lights will also be installed.
The Hudson Eagles Recreation Area will also upgrade state boat launches at Schodack Island State Park, Crailo State Historic Site, Athens State Boat Launch and Hudson State Boat Launch.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul said: “The Upper Hudson River Estuary, a 60-mile stretch of the Hudson River from Albany to Kingston, is a globally significant ecological and recreational asset.
“The Hudson Eagles Recreation Area offers the opportunity to create a destination unlike any other, a water-based linear park that will draw more people to the Hudson River and better connect communities to the waterfront and waterway travellers, starting with the Village of Coxsackie.
“In addition, new improvements to the Ferry Landing Fishing Access Site on the eastern shore of the Hudson are already bringing more local residents and visitors alike down to the river to experience nature.”
Hochul also announced the completion of $900,000 upgrades for the Ferry Landing Fishing Access Site across the Hudson River in the Columbia County town of Stuyvesant. This is said to complement the Hudson Eagles Recreation Area project.
Upgrades included the construction of a new 61ft long by 10ft-wide accessible fixed fishing pier, reinforcement of the existing timber bulkhead along the river’s east bank, and a 315ft sustainable shoreline treatment on the south side of the river site.
