Bayside Marketplace

General Growth Properties has appointed Zyscovich Architects to revamp Bayside Marketplace to address the rapidly changing demographics of downtown Miami.

As part of the refresh and addition of the 19-acre, open-air Bayside Marketplace, the existing outdoor common areas and waterfront plaza will be renovated.

Zyscovich Architects will also renovate the existing open-air, two-level parking garage and add two more levels. A new retail area will provide tenant shell spaces along Biscayne Boulevard.

The waterfront marketplace is designed for shopping, dining and entertainment, combining an indoor shopping experience with outdoor amenities and public spaces to serve residents and visitors alike.

"The waterfront marketplace is…combining an indoor shopping experience with outdoor amenities and public spaces to serve residents and visitors alike."

Zyscovich Architects has been selected by General Growth Properties as it has completed various urban retail revitalisation projects, including Midtown Miami, the Miami DDA Downtown Master Plan, and Brooklyn’s retail district, Dumbo Heights in the former Watchtower industrial complex.

Part of the Bayside site was also subleased by General Growth to construct the SkyRise Miami observation tower to attract visitors to the mall.

The mortgage of General Growth on the 230,000ft² Bayside has been boosted from $79m to $250m, partly as a bid to fund renovations, South Florida Business Journal reported.
