Thamrin Nine Tower 1

Schindler has been awarded a contract to supply elevators and escalators for Indonesia’s tallest skyscraper, Thamrin Nine Tower 1, which is currently under construction.

Said to be the largest mixed-use development in the Bundaran HI, the Thamrin Nine Tower 1 was developed by PT Putra Gaya Wahana and is part of phase one of the project.

The tower consists of four apartment buildings, two office towers, a lifestyle hub, a luxury hotel, a boutique hotel and a service apartment complex.

Expected to complete in 2017, the tower will soar over Jakarta’s skyline at 330m-high with a total of 81 floors, including six basements and 75 floors above ground.

Retail and office space will take up the first 68 floors with the remainder being occupied by a 180-room, Waldorf Astoria by Hilton Hotels and Resorts Group.

PT Berca Schindler Lifts president director Hendrikus Hendra Gozali said: "We are very excited to commission Schindler for Thamrin Nine’s demanding vertical transportation needs.

For the project, Schindler will supply 32 high-rise elevators and 34 escalators to serve more than 6,000 people transiting through the building daily.

The mobility solution is set to feature various observatory elevators and a 4.5t elevator that will be able to transport vehicles to a height of 280m in a short span of time.

"Schindler’s destination control PORT technology assigns an elevator car as soon as a resident or visitor’s credentials are verified."

The high-rise Schindler 7000 series elevators will use energy-efficient frequency controlled motors and Power Factor 1 drives, which are capable of re-directing electricity back into the building’s power grid.

Schindler’s building management tool Lobby Vision will monitor all elevators and escalators, and allow single-point supervision of multiple active systems.

"With an expected 25,000 potential tenants in the mixed-use complex in Thamrin Nine, we require an elevator company which brings quality, reliability, technology and great safety into the mix," Gonzali added.
