Ryder Alliance design

A consortium of architecture firms led by UK-based Ryder Architecture has emerged as the winner of the Build New York Live 2015 event, a competition that challenged architects to redesign a part of the US city.

This year’s challenge asked the participants to re-visualise the western site at Hudson yards within two days.

Several international multidisciplinary teams took part in the competition, which involved designing a portion of the largest private real estate development in the US.

The Ryder Alliance team members comprise i2C from Australia, Ravetllat Ribas Arquitectes from Spain, and SLR, Cundall, Summers Inman, Rapid 5D, and Willmott Dixon from the UK.

Participants had to use Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies for the competition, which ran from 21 to 23 September.

The design approach for the project was led by Ryder Architecture’s Sarah O’Connor.
