Rutgers University in New Jersey, US, has approved upgrades to academic facilities across its campuses under a comprehensive, physical masterplan termed Rutgers 2030.
Expected to be continued over a long period of time, the plans include scope for development at Rutgers University-Camden, Rutgers University-Newark, and Rutgers University-New Brunswick.

Rutgers 2030 is influenced by the university’s strategic plan, which was approved last year. It also incorporates Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS).
Specific developments at the multiple university locations will be unique to them.
In general, the project will include upgrades to the academic facilities in order to enhance student experience in both classroom and campus.
Plans also envisage improvement of technology and transportation infrastructure, and strengthening connections between respective campuses and their neighbouring communities.

Rutgers University president Robert Barchi said: "The development of this plan was a tremendous undertaking."
The university will continue exploring existing resources, solicit private gifts, attempt to draw support from foundation and government grants, and enter into public-private partnerships to fund the proposed developments.
Barchi said: "The physical masterplan is a framework for future development that we will review and update to make appropriate revisions as priorities and funding warrant.
"Rutgers 2030 provides vision and guidance as Rutgers moves forward to create an environment equal to our prominence in teaching, research and service to New Jersey and the nation."
The university presently has multiple projects in pipeline or under construction under its strategic plan, which includes Rutgers Honors College, Chemistry and Chemical Biology Building in Piscataway, academic building on College Avenue.
