Roadside Development will break ground on the $300m CityMarket at O project, a one million square-feet, mixed-use development in Washington DC, US, on Friday 18 November.

The mixed-use development is one of 14 infrastructure projects around the country selected by the US Government to be expedited under its jobs plan.

The project includes the construction of 635 residential units, out of which 84 will be built for seniors, along with 401 market-rate apartments and 150 luxury condominiums.

It also involves the demolition of a former Giant grocery store and the restoration of the historic 1881 O Street Market building to house a 72,000ft2 Giant Food supermarket.

The development will also include retail and restaurants, a 182-room Cambria Suites hotel, over 500 parking spaces, 300 indoor bike-parking stalls and a 270-linear-foot rooftop dog park.

The Giant Food supermarket is expected to be completed in summer 2013 and the 182-room hotel and 401 units of market-rate rental housing in early autumn 2013.
