The new terminal at Mayotte Airport in France has officially opened following 18 months of construction.
The terminal has been designed and built by SNC-Lavalin Group, which has operated the airport since 2011.
The facility has an annual accommodation capacity of 600,000 and has been designed to handle up to 1.2 million passengers in the future, with further expansion capabilities.
SNC-Lavalin Group senior vice-president of operations and maintenance Europe, Youssef Sabeh said: "SNC-Lavalin has been working with French public authorities on major transportation, social infrastructure and urban planning projects for over two decades.
"Our ability to develop airports and manage them sustainably contributes significantly to improving the accessibility and appeal of regions.
"We are also committed to community development and make a point of hiring local sub-contractors and implementing professional job-training programmes for youths."
