Lendlease has been awarded the construction manager contract for a refurbishment project at White City Place in London, UK.

Lendlease would be responsible for refurbishing three buildings at White City Place, formerly known as BBC’s Media Village, which include WestWorks, Mediaworks and Garden House. Lendlease built Mediaworks and Garden House 12 years ago.

It will create commercial office facilities, which will help drive regeneration of the local area.

Contracts signed for the three buildings have a total value of £80m, and further works are currently being finalised for £7m of landscaping.

The developers of the project are Stanhope, which is a longstanding client of Lendlease’s construction business, along with Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo.

Lendlease offered an advice package on buildability and logistics before work commenced.

It will also create studios for the BBC and a Soho House members club and hotel.

Plans for the area include up to 2,500 homes, new public spaces and a hub for academia, innovation and start-ups.
