Kier Construction (Southern) has broken ground on a £19m historical resource centre near Falmer, East Sussex, UK.
The project, known as the Keep, is a joint project between East Sussex County Council, Brighton and Hove City Council and the University of Sussex.
The development will provide over 52,000ft2 of storage, office and public access space across three floors.
The project will house historical records and archives for the local area, together with the special collections of the University of Sussex.
The new facility has been designed to meet specific storage and preservation needs and will be built strictly to the British Standard recommendations for the storage and exhibition of archival documents.
The facility is scheduled to open in 2013.
