JCJ Architecture and Leong Leong have revealed designs for the Center for Community and Entrepreneurship for the non-profit organisation Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE).
The 90,000ft2, seven storey, mixed-use community building will be located at the corner of College Point Boulevard and 39th Avenue in Flushing, New York.
Leong Leong's partner Chris Leong said: "The goal of this project was unique from the start, to create a vertically-integrated community for Flushing seamlessly linking work, events, and the public.
“The informal spaces of circulation become primary spaces for interaction and exchange, we turned the architectural promenade into an vertical interface, which blends public and work space.”
The second level of the building will consist of a flexible, multi-purpose space to host public events. This will have large doors opening onto a terrace. The building will also feature a three-storey open staircase, which will provide seating for the public market on the ground floor, while on the second and third floors serving as a venue for public and community-based events.
