The Hawaii Community Development Authority in Hawaii, US, is planning to build a 650ft mixed-use skyscraper called 690 Pohukaina in the Kakaako area of Honolulu, as part of a $500m development.

The overall development will include the high-rise building, two smaller residential and commercial buildings, a parking structure and a civic centre.

The 690 Pohukaina building will include 204 affordable rental housing units, 300 affordable housing units and 500 market housing units.

The first phase of the work is expected to begin by February 2012.

Construction work on the development is estimated to be complete by 2019.
