Balfour Beatty’s joint venture (JV) Gammon Construction has secured a HK$2bn (£200m) contract from Ocean Park to construct a year-round, all-weather water park at Tai Shue Wan in Hong Kong.
The Ocean Park Water World project, which covers an area of more than 693,000ft², includes a main building structure, fit out and installation of indoor and outdoor attractions, and mechanical and electrical services.

Gammon will also be responsible for building services work required to maintain the new park’s specialist systems such as wave generators and a water filtration plant.
The water park will include glass walling and shell-shaped roofing accompanied by a translucent skylight system to allow natural light, and minimise artificial lighting.
Gammon Construction chief executive Thomas Ho said: “We are pleased to have secured this development, where our expert capabilities and experienced team provides our client with the skilled partner they need to safely deliver complex projects.”
Gammon will also aid Ocean Park in the value engineering process for cost-effective solutions and will leverage technologies such as building information modelling (BIM) for efficient coordination.

Gammon is a JV between Balfour Beatty and Asian conglomerate Jardine Matheson, who have been collaborating since 2004 for projects across China and Southeast Asia.
Balfour Beatty finances, develops, builds and maintains a variety of infrastructure, including transportation, power and utility systems, social, and commercial buildings.
