Eric Wright Construction has started construction of the second phase of Stockport town centre’s new gateway development, Stockport Exchange, in the UK.
Morgan Sindall regeneration unit Muse has selected Eric Wright for this phase of the mixed-use project, which is being developed in partnership with the town council.
Project plans include construction of a 115-bed hotel, a 50,000ft² five-storey office building with ground floor retail space, and a new public space outside Stockport train station.
Road layout at the town will also be redeveloped to offer improved access to the station. The council also intends to organise a dedicated drop-off facility for the purpose.
Development of the second phase, which will deliver up to 375,000ft² of office space and 28,000ft² of commercial floor space, is expected to be completed within sixteen months, by late 2016.
The first phase of the Stockport Exchange project involved construction of a 1,000 space, multi-storey car park operated by NCP, which was completed and opened last year.
