The Eiffel Tower Company has unveiled a €25m plan to modernise the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.
The operator of the tower is planning to install giant viewing bays and glass floors on the walkways on the inside edge of the open spaces between the pillars to offer visitors a feeling of floating.
The first platform of the tower will include sections of glass flooring, giving a view of the ground 57m below.
The upgrades are intended to cater for the many visitors that do not climb all the way to the top of the tower.
The revamp will add a new conference hall, a refurbished restaurant, a museum, and an exhibition or performance area.
The renovation work will start in 2012 and is expected to be completed in 17 months.
