Australia-based infrastructure firm Lendlease has unveiled the prototype of a new hub ‘The Darling Exchange’ in Sydney, Australia, to mark the receipt of approval for the building’s plan.
The new facility is being constructed as a multi-purpose hub for the local community and is set to be built by Lendlease in the centre of Sydney's new urban neighbourhood called Darling Square.
Expected to be completed next year, the six-storey building will feature a new City of Sydney library that will provide a programme to support technology start-ups, a permanent open market hall on the ground floor, a childcare centre, and a rooftop bar and restaurant.
Lendlease Darling Square project director Neil Arckless said: “With its bold and inviting design, we think The Darling Exchange will have a fresh twenty-first-century twist.
“The Darling Exchange will be a building like no other, instantly recognisable with a façade wrapped in 20km of beautiful, curved timber.
“Lendlease is proud to be working closely with the State Government to deliver this building for the people of Sydney.”
