Maidenhead - The Landing

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has approved a £250m regeneration scheme for developing homes, offices and retail spaces in the town of Maidenhead, UK.

Ryger Maidenhead, which is a joint venture between London & Aberdeen Group and Smedvig of Norway, has secured the approval for a 600,000ft² mixed-use development termed ‘The Landing’.

The town centre scheme is planned to be 100m from the Crossrail station.

Ryger Maidenhead has scheduled the development completion to coincide with the start of Crossrail services in the UK, which is set for 2019.

Designed by Studio Egret West and Allies & Morrison, the project will deliver 260,000ft² of Grade A office accommodation, 48,000ft² of retail space, and 225 new residential units for the Thames Valley town.

"The scheme has a clear role to play in helping Maidenhead maintain its place as a preeminent destination in the Thames Valley."

The residential elements will comprise one, two and three-bedroom units, while the retail space is intended to be built around an expansive central plaza.

London & Aberdeen Group managing director Doug Higgins said: "This is a major step forward for Maidenhead and our vision will help reinvigorate the town centre and capitalise on Maidenhead’s status as a future Crossrail destination.

"The Landing will occupy a prime site between the station and high street, and set a new standard for urban design in the Thames Valley, providing office accommodation suitable for major HQs, as well as homes and high-quality shops and restaurants.

"Local representatives have been at the heart of the design process for The Landing.

"The scheme has a clear role to play in helping Maidenhead maintain its place as a preeminent destination in the Thames Valley, creating a spectacular meeting place, new jobs, economic activity and a hub linking all parts of the town centre together."
