The Quays residential development

Brookfield Multiplex has completed construction of the $180m residential development on the corner of Docklands Drive and Harbour Esplanade in Melbourne, Australia.

The Quays residential development is owned by MAB Corporation and designed by McBride Charles Ryan.

The Quays features 600 apartments spread across two residential towers. The 32-storey south tower features 115 one-bedroom apartments, 142 two-bedroom apartments and 18 three-bedroom apartments.

The north tower has 27 levels housing 125 one-bedroom, 75 two-bedroom and 42-three bedroom apartments.

Facilities also include a swimming pool, spa, sauna, gym and yoga studio as well as a resident club, including a library, business centre, private dining room and cinema lounge.

Brookfield said the building’s facade features grey, pink and purple tinted glass.

Environmentally sustainable design features include central gas water heater and gas cooking, water-efficient fittings and a high-performance curved glass facade.

The project also has rain gardens and tree pits, which will feed the storm water management and enable more rainfall to be accepted to the system by reducing the heat island effect of urban developments.

The storm water management system depends on the retention and treatment provided by the rain gardens at ground level, and a harvesting system will be deployed on the rooftop.

Brookfield Multiplex regional managing director in Victoria Graham Cottam said: "Our on-going relationship with MAB Corporation has allowed us to assist them in delivering iconic developments like The Quays and Harbour One. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the future."
