UK-based architecture firm Broadway Malyan has completed French retailer Carrefour’s first mixed-use and retail-anchored shopping centre in Huelva, southern Spain.
The commercial shopping centre includes a 15,800m² Carrefour hypermarket, a ten-screen cinema, 10,800m² of additional retail space, including major fashion brands such as Zara, H&M and Primark, 2,100m² of additional restaurant-leisure space and open air pathways designed to provide a local Mediterranean village feel.
The shopping complex has 2,212 parking spaces.
Holea centre hypermarket has been extended to 35,000m² as Carrefour is planning to widen its property interests and maximise the value of its portfolio through creative asset management and expansion.
Design of the shopping centre is influenced by local Mediterranean villages and materials. The mall comprises of open-air boulevards and public spaces connecting retail and leisure units within an integrated overall scheme.
The interior of the shopping centre is crowned with a textile cover to allow natural shade and save energy in the premises considering the high summer temperatures in Huelva, while the green walls in the interior ensure a microclimate and beautiful visuals.
