Gateway plans BU

Bournemouth University in Poole, UK, has unveiled new plans for campus developments, which are expected to involve investments worth £100m.

Two of the university’s campuses at Lansdowne and Talbot sites will be part of the redevelopment project, which will involve construction of two ‘striking gateway buildings’ at the sites.

Plans at the Talbot campus will involve development of a landmark Poole Gateway Building for the Media and Communication, Management, and Science and Technology faculties.

The university also intends to construct transport and accessibility benefits for the wider community including a bus hub on the campus and a new link road off the Boundary roundabout.

Redevelopment scheme for the Lansdowne site will bring together the faculties and facilities for Health and Social Sciences (HSS) at the university. The site is also expected to have allotted spaces for parking and a new student accommodation building.

Plans for the developments will be undergoing a public consultation phase. Feedback from the phase will be further analysed, before the universities submit planning applications for the projects to the local authorities in March.
