Fifteen products were honoured with prestigious Innovation Awards at the international building exhibition Batimat in Paris this week.
The winner of the Gold Batimat Special Award is BIMsight, a centralised communication and tool-building information tool that combines 3D models created by different AEC disciplines and software. It was developed by software engineering company Tekla.

Honoured with the gold award in the IT category was app developer Bigsool’s iPad app for architects and construction managers that optimises punch list data entry.
Other winners include a tool from Schuco International that reduces construction-related CO2-emissions, a hammer by Fiskars France that damps vibration, and a natural veneer by FibandCo made of banana plant trunk fibres.
The winners were chosen for their contribution to energy-efficient construction, sustainability, and making construction sites safer and more easily accessible.
The contest has attracted 171 submissions by 140 companies and the jury shortlisted 43 products, showcasing the most innovative products in the categories of structural work, carpentry and joinery, interior and exterior, machinery and equipment as well as IT.
With more than 2,700 exhibitors and over 500,000 visitors, Batimat is one of the world’s biggest construction exhibitions.
